The Centre for Marine Socioecology has 3 Postdoctoral Research Fellow/Research Fellow positions for highly motivated and talented researchers to work on issues relevant to the global management of our oceans.
The Centre for Marine Socioecology is a joint initiative between the University of Tasmania, CSIRO and the Australian Antarctic Division. The Centre brings together expertise across disciplines including the natural and physical sciences, economics, social sciences and law. The Centre focuses on all issues to do with the current and future use and management of the marine realm.
The Postdoctoral Research Fellow/Research Fellow positions are for 3 years and prospective applicants will need to select one of five research areas. Each research area is supported by a mentoring and expertise committee that will ensure that the resources and support required to contribute to an interdisciplinary program are available while ensuring depth within a discipline is maintained.
The research program of the Centre has four main integrated themes that bring together the necessary expertise to tackle the new and emerging issues in the utilisation and management of our oceans. Our oceans are crowded and complex places with many users having competing and conflicting agendas. The Centre aims to build interdisciplinary capability to address the key areas of conflict in the ongoing development and use of our Oceans. The Centre aims to establish itself as a global leader in marine socioecology and through co-investment with national and overseas agencies it will build on Tasmania's reputation for excellence in marine research.
