PhD Scholarships, NHH Norwegian School of Economics, Norway (2015)

NHH Norwegian School of Economics is pleased to announce vacancies within the following areas: (1) Accounting and Auditing, (2) Economics, (3) Finance, (4) Business and Management Science, (5) Marketing, (6) Strategy and Management. Students admitted to the PhD Programme at NHH will receive the title of PhD Research Scholar.

NHH is a public, specialised university (founded in 1936) in Norway, which hosts around 3500 students.

The PhD Programme
The PhD Programme at NHH is a four-year fully-funded programme, which combines an intensive course component with active research and teaching/work experience, preparing the school’s graduates for competitive careers at national and international academic institutions and industry.

PhD Research Scholars are expected to fulfill their coursework requirement within the first year, and are encouraged during this time to enrol in some relevant courses at neighbouring Nordic universities. All PhD courses are taught in English.

PhD Research Scholars receive their own office space within their department and enjoy a highly stimulating and rewarding research environment. Students benefit from feedback on their work through close interaction with their supervisor/s, and from faculty members during regular seminars and workshops. Students are also encouraged to present their research at in-house and external conferences.

PhD Research Scholars are required to combine their studies and research with 25% work as a teaching and/or research assistant during their employment period. This requirement averages out to less than 9 hours on a weekly basis.

The annual salary for the PhD Research Scholar position is currently 429 400 NOK gross (equivalent to approximately € 51 000 or US dollar 64 000). This salary ensures a fair standard of living in Norway, and is subject to Norwegian taxes and benefits, including health care provision.

Funding may also be available for participation at academic conferences and research stays at recognised institutions abroad.
