CEVT is an innovation center for the future cars of the Geely Group. We develop mobility solutions for a different tomorrow, we occupy some 2000 people and are based in Gothenburg.

CEVT offers an exciting and challenging research project in a fast growing and developing company. We are a diverse and dynamic team, appreciating the competence and experience all our employees bring to table. We offer you an innovative atmosphere and culture of team spirit where sharing knowledge and finding new ways to tackle our challenges together is key.

Industrial PhD within Vehicle Integration – Future Ride Comfort and NVH
The Vehicle Integration unit at CEVT is responsible for the development of customer unique selling points in terms of fulfilling attribute requirements in a customer profile. Typically, different disciplines like Ride Comfort, NVH (Noise, Vibration and Harshness), Energy consumption, Chassis and handling are continuously evaluated via virtual development tools. These tools are applied in development projects in a gate structure and are the core of CEVT knowhow for fast development. With the current refinement level of vehicles - Ride Comfort and NVH are becoming increasingly important attributes in the development of new vehicles and platforms. These attributes are also market dependent.

Major change to vehicle usage in the future through electrification is one example, but also when vehicles are running in Autonomous Driving mode. When the vehicles will run partly or completely in Autonomous Driving mode it will also change how the driver and the passengers perceive the Ride Comfort and NVH.

In this Industrial PhD project CEVT wants to cover the two specific technical areas, Ride Comfort and NVH, as they are strongly related regarding how the occupants in the vehicle perceive them as well as technically in the development process. As an industrial PhD you will develop methodologies to increase CEVT's knowhow in the area of Ride Comfort and NVH.
The focus in this project is on improving the understanding of how future demands will change the requirements and perception of Ride in combination with the new NVH levels and techniques that need to be developed due to new driving habits and behaviors. The objective is to deepen the knowledge about the opportunities of large-scale simulation models to influence the early design phase as well as making a technology roadmap to further explore opportunities.

As an industrial PhD, you will be employed by the CEVT Vehicle Integration team and connected to Chalmers University of Technology in Gothenburg, Division Design & Human Factors and Division of Applied Acoustics, as a full-time PhD student, where you take part in all activities that normally are included in a Ph.D. position. You will report to Erik Preihs at CEVT AB, and be scientific supervised by Anna-Lisa Osvalder, Professor in Human-Machine Systems at Chalmers, who also is responsible for your Ph.D education.

Responsibilities and tasks
• Fulfill the academic requirements for a licentiate degree as a first step (after about 2.5 years) and as a second step present a thesis for a technical Ph.D degree (after 4-5 years)
• Present your research at scientific conferences and write scientific journal articles
• At regular intervals deliver status reports to CEVT and present results for relevant reference groups
•Take part in all activities that normally are included in a Ph.D position and education
