A large segment of international maritime transport activity is dedicated to the transport of energy products, such as crude oil and oil products, liquefied natural gas (LNG), special freight (LPG), traditional hard coal iron ore, as well as more sophisticated materials such as enriched uranium. It is true that, without maritime transportation of oil and other energy products on the scale that this is being carried out today, it would be impossible for industrialized countries' economies to function.
