The German Cancer Research Center is the largest biomedical research institution in Germany. With more than 2,700 employees, we operate an extensive scientific program in the field of cancer research.
As of January 2016 the Division of NCT – Heidelberg School of Oncology (NCT HSO) offers
NCT HSO Translational Cancer Research Fellowships (Ref-No. 160/2015)
Description:
The NCT Heidelberg was founded as an exceptional alliance between the German Cancer Research Center (DKFZ), Heidelberg University Medical School (UKL-HD), the Heidelberg Medical Faculty, and German Cancer Aid (Deutsche Krebshilfe). NCT's mission is to foster interdisciplinary oncology for an optimized development of current clinical therapies, and to rapidly transfer scientific knowledge into clinical applications through a comprehensive concept of translational and preventive oncology. Therefore NCT Heidelberg School of Oncology (NCT HSO) offers fellowships in translational cancer research for scientists and physician scientists.
- Scientists of the NCT HSO have to pursue a translational cancer research project mentored by DKFZ, NCT or UKL-HD research groups
- Physician scientists are granted protected time (25-100%, allowing flexible curricula according to the candidates' needs) for a translational cancer research project/trial at DKFZ, NCT or UKL-HD research groups. They have access to clinical training to qualify for board exams in clinical disciplines of oncology
- Educational events: fellows have to attend a limited number of educational events (obligatory 100 hours per annum) offered at internal (e.g. NCT Heidelberg Grand Rounds, NCT State-of-the-Art Seminar Series, DKFZ Progress in cancer research lectures, NCT/HUMS Interdisciplinary Thursday Lecture) and external conferences, seminars and workshops with a focus on basic, translational and clinical cancer research
