Training Course: "Mental Health Issues Arising from Covid-19"
12-16 September 2022 | Sleen, Netherlands
Concretely the objectives of the project are to : 1) Capacitate youth workers working with young people from disadvantaged backgrounds on managing post traumatic stress disorders as a result of the pandemic.
The unprecedented nature of Covid-19 left youths with numerous psychological scars stemming from loneliness, mental insecurities, fatigue and despair as a result of confinement. There is need therefore to have a project that debrief the youth and youth workers as well as give them a platform to share their stories so that society is better equipped and prepared to face future calamities of this nature.
The psychological, economic, social and physical destruction caused by the Covid-19 virus has been unprecedented and there is need for youths to come together and debrief. It is important for youths to be able to share their experiences and motivate each other to move on with a positive mindset.
The project also focusses on young people from disadvantaged backgrounds because research has shown that those from minority backgrounds are more likely to suffer from the brunt of mental health due to their inadequacy to seek professional remedy for their situations.
