BIOTEC is seeking post-doctoral researchers in the following positions:
Position 1: Computer-aided drug design for new effective PfDHFR inhibitors
Job description: The candidate will design and evaluate new effective DHFR inhibitors by fragment-based drug design and 3D-QSAR approaches.
Eligibility/Specific Qualifications: Candidate must have skills in Computational Chemistry, Molecular Modeling and Crystal Structure.
Position 2: Mechanisms of resistance to the brown planthopper (BHP) in rice
Job description: The project will rely on transformation of candidate genes from the narrowed genomic in the transgenic rice, statistical analysis of gene expression data, interaction and functional assays in vivo. Results from this project are expected to provide important insights into the molecular mechanisms underlying Brown planthopper (BPH) resistance mechanism of rice.
Eligibility/Specific Qualifications: The candidate should have demonstrated expertise in functional genomics and a strong background in molecular biology. Additional experience in bioinformatics and rice breeding is desirable.
Position 3: Development of enzyme formulation platform for accelerating commercialization of local enzymes to industry
Job description: The candidate will join the current research team. He/she will work at enzyme technology laboratory on optimization of downstream process and formulation technology of enzymes related in paper and textile industry for increasing their efficiency and shelf life. The candidate will be responsible for a) designing and development of downstream process, b) designing, testing and application of novel enzyme formulations, c) studying the physical and biochemical interaction between the premix additives being used in the formulations and the tested enzymes, d) supporting other research and development needs as assigned by the lab head of enzyme technology laboratory.
Eligibility/Specific Qualifications: Candidate must have a Ph.D. in biotechnology, biochemistry, applied microbiology, chemistry or related fields. Previous experience working in enzyme technology will be considered specially.
Position 4: Drug Lead Discovery from Fungal Sources in Thailand and Synthetic Lead Modification
Job description: The candidate will work on the chemistry of bioactive fungal metabolites. The primary research job is the isolation and structure elucidation of novel compounds from fungal cultures. As application, the candidate will also be requested to study on semi-synthesis or precursor-directed biosynthesis of the analogues of the key bioactive compounds.
Eligibility/Specific Qualifications: The candidate should have the main educational background of synthetic organic chemistry and/or natural product chemistry. For the candidate, who is skilled in synthetic organic chemistry, previous experience of natural product isolation is not required.
