Applications are invited from qualified graduates for a PhD in Healthcare Policy and Research (HCPR) within the Department of Health Behavior and Policy at Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU).
The HCPR PhD program prepares students who have a master’s degree in a related field (e.g., public health, economics, biostatistics, public policy, social sciences) to use economic and statistical frameworks and methods to address important health policy issues. Areas of study include the financing systems, organizational structures, care and decision making processes, social factors, health technologies and personal behaviors that affect health-related outcomes and disparities. Graduates develop strong methodological and theoretical skills that allow them to formulate and analyze health policy and to plan, implement, and evaluate health programs.
Graduate Research Assistantships are available to well-qualified applicants. The assistantships are renewable for up to four years and include defrayed tuition and a highly competitive annual stipend. The program begins in August 2016.
