Several post-doctoral positions are available in the computer modelling group at LIRYC, the Electrophysiology and Heart Modelling Institute, situated in Bordeaux, France (www.ihu-liryc.fr). This is a dynamic new institute comprising basic science and clinical research. Brand new facilities include optical mapping, patch clamping, a 9.4T MRI scanner, a research surgical suite, and energetic studies.
The successful candidates will perform computer simulations to help understand arrhythmogenic mechanisms and their treatment. These projects will be directly tied to experimental and clinical investigations, and will involve creating detailed electrophysiological models at the single cell, tissue and/or organ levels. Tasks will include expanding or modifying simulation software, designing simulation studies, writing research articles, and interfacing with clinicians, experimentalists and mathematicians. Competence in numerical methods, computer programming, and the ability to write data analysis tools using software like MatLab, or equivalent, is expected. A knowledge of electrophysiology is expected. Specifc research topics include 1) CRT therapy, 2) the role of the Purkinje system in arrhythmogenesis, and 3) ventricular ablation.
