One (1) Postdoctoral Position in Computer Vision based Analysis of Human Behaviour in Retail Environments, Queen Mary University of London & University of Cambridge, UK (2016)

The School of Electronic Engineering and Computer Science at Queen Mary University of London and the Computer Laboratory at the University of Cambridge are jointly seeking to appoint a Postdoctoral Researcher to be funded by a major UK Technology Strategy Board Project. The project is a collaboration between Queen Mary University of London and the University of Cambridge with a number of industry partners, and aims to create technologies for enhancing user experience in retail.

Candidates must have a PhD (already obtained or shortly to be awarded) in Computer Science or Engineering with a particular focus on Computer Vision, Machine Learning, Affective Computing or a related area. Applicants should have an outstanding research record in Computer Vision and Applied Machine Learning (with an appropriate publication record) and have excellent analytical and programming skills using Python and/or C++. A background in automatic human behaviour analysis from face and/or body is desirable. The successful candidate will work on visual analysis of nonverbal human behaviour; conduct research to design algorithms and techniques to automatically process and analyse human behaviour, affect and emotions; and interact with the principal investigator (Queen Mary University of London), co-investigator (University of Cambridge), industrial collaborators, and graduate students.

The post is full time and available immediately for 23 months. The postdoctoral researcher will be employed by Queen Mary University of London, but they are expected to spend approximately 50% of their time at the Cambridge Computing Laboratory. Starting salary will be £32,052 (point 27) per annum inclusive of London Allowance. Benefits include 30 days annual leave, defined benefit pension scheme and interest-free season ticket loan.

Candidates must be able to demonstrate their eligibility to work in the UK in accordance with the Immigration, Asylum and Nationality Act 2006. Where required this may include entry clearance or continued leave to remain under the Points Based Immigration Scheme.
