The American College of Thessaloniki (ACT) invites applications for the position of Associate Dean of Academic Affairs.
The Associate Dean reports to the Provost and is responsible for creating and sustaining an environment of academic and professional excellence for students and faculty and a collaborative working environment with educational team members. This position will also supervise the College’s Center for Lifelong Learning.
The Associate Dean will work closely with the Provost and the academic Chairs, on areas related to faculty oversight (faculty policies, selection, evaluation, development, etc.), the development of a 5-year academic plan, the development of new academic programs and the compliance with national and international accrediting bodies.
Normally, the Associate Dean will carry a teaching load of two courses per year.
The ideal candidate will have the following personal and professional characteristics and qualifications:
- A doctoral degree in one of ACT’s academic areas.
- Academic credentials commensurate for appointment at the rank of Professor or Associate Professor at ACT.
- Successful record of service and commitment to higher education.
- Strong communication skills, both written and oral.
- A good knowledge of the U.S. educational system; knowledge of the UK system will be considered a plus.
- Personal and academic integrity.
- Ability to effectively interact with faculty, students, and staff.
