- Managing Editor
Qualifications:
- Strong background in print and or broadcast media production, and dissemination, including online environments
- Experience in managing newsroom or field reporting/production teams with the ability to deliver results to agreed timetables and budgets AND/OR Experience in supervising, designing, managing, and implementing community media projects and/or humanitarian information projects with a focus on participation and community engagement
- Fluency in spoken and written English; knowledge of Arabic, Farsi or Greek is an asset
- Awareness of and familiarity with the issues and dynamics of the Europe refugee crisis a strong asset.
- Excellent interpersonal and networking skills to liaise authoritatively with figures from the humanitarian community, local government, civil society, media, etc.
- Team-building skills and the ability to manage a diverse staff in a challenging and a highly fluid environment
- Familiarity with the mandates and modalities of the international humanitarian sector including the UN cluster system and capacity
- Sensitivity to cross-cultural dynamics in the workplace
- Ability to adjust to shifting political and operational circumstances and create programming accordingly
- An understanding of the vision/mission, core values and objectives of Internews
- Understanding of and passion for the area of communications with disaster-affected communities
- Excellent communication and reporting skills, both written and oral
- Psychological resilience and a sense of humor
- Must hold a valid driver's license and ability or willingness to drive a standard shift vehicle a plus
- Strong understanding of, and commitment towards editorial values of the project.
