Our societies critically depend on interconnected IT infrastructure for business transactions (e.g. e-banking), personal entertainment (e.g. Internet/mobile apps) and overall societal well-being (e.g. extensive administrative records). With the proliferation of communication networks and the corresponding increase in connectivity, the overall goal of cybersecurity to “secure and protect information and communications from unauthorized and malicious users” has become so crucial that the World Economic Forum regards the threats to cybersecurity as one of the top global risks for the world’s nations. This has led to a fierce and continuous “cyberwar”, as unscrupulous attackers try to circumvent the employed security mechanisms and dedicated professionals are constantly on alert to detect and thwart such attacks.
In this event, we ask an exceptional selection of invited speakers from academia, research institutes and industry to provide their expertise on the multi-faceted problem of cybersecurity with an emphasis on its diverse aspects and ever-evolving characteristics.
Targeting an audience of university students/graduates as well as other members of the ICT and security industry, our goal is to dispel some of the common myths regarding cybersecurity and point out challenges and opportunities that a cybersecurity professional must face in a global competitive environment.
Attendance is free to students, young ICT professionals, the general public and all those who wish to become familiar with cybersecurity and information security in general. Prior free registration is required.
