4 PhD Student positions (65%, German TV-L E13, m/f) and 5 Postdocs positions (100%, German TV-L E13, m/f) are available in this recently established CRC 1218, funded by the German Research Foundation. The positions, which are available until June 2020, are dedicated to the following projects:

Thorsten Hoppe, CECAD Research Center, University of Cologne: Regulation of mitochondrial surveillance by the UPS
Thomas Langer, CECAD Research Center, University of Cologne: Proteolytic control of mitochondrial dynamics and cell survival
Manolis Pasparakis, CECAD Research Center, University of Cologne: Role of mitochondria in the regulation of intestinal epithelial cell death and inflammation
Elena Rugarli, CECAD Research Center, University of Cologne: Molecular roles of the RNA-binding protein CLUH in the regulation of mitochondrial function
Astrid Schauss, CECAD Imaging Facility, University of Cologne: Staff scientist for transmission electron microscopy to establish correlative light and electron microscopy techniques.
Aleksandra Trifunovic, CECAD Research Center, Medical Faculty of the University of Cologne: Oxidative stress signalling in lifespan regulation

PhD Students and Postdocs participating in the projects of CRC 1218 will become members of the Integrated Research Training Group in Mitochondrial Biology (mito-RTG) programme, which provides them with the best possible scientific and team environment, guidance, mentoring and teaching.

Applications in English are invited from highly-qualified graduate students and young researchers. The positions are available immediately. Applicants for PhD positions should have a very good BA/MA in Cell Biology, Biochemistry or Genetics, applicants for a Postdoc position should have an excellent PhD and publication record related to one of the research foci of the CRC 1218.
