Onassis Foundation Postdoctoral Research Fellowship, University of Oxford, UK (2016-2017)

The Department of Politics and International Relations (DPIR) in association with the South East European Studies at Oxford (SEESOX) is looking for a Postdoctoral Research Fellow to engage in advanced research on the politics, economy and society of Greece, supporting a new SEESOX project entitled “The Greek Diaspora Project: Homeland Ties in Times of Crisis”.

This exciting project will highlight, assess and analyse selective themes such as brain drain, social entrepreneurship, electoral and local politics, philanthropy, and the diaspora’s influence in the fields of education, health or culture.

As well as participating in the research activities of the department and the SEESOX programme and the dissemination of the research output, the successful candidate will assist the Project Director, Dr Othon Anastasakis, in the setting up and the subsequent organisation and co-ordination of the project.

Further duties of the Research Fellow will include supporting the Project Director in the academic and practical organisation of workshops and conferences on the Greek Diaspora Project, to be held in and outside Oxford; and to assist in further fundraising and project design for this programme at SEESOX.

Eligibility
The successful candidate should:
- Hold a doctoral degree (or be close to completing a PhD) in political science, international relations or a related field;
- Demonstrable experience in project management;
- Have a track record of research of an internationally excellent standard in the field of politics and policy-making related to contemporary Greece.
