Helsinki International Curatorial Programme (HICP) offers curatorial residencies in Helsinki for international curators of contemporary art. The programme is co-organised by HIAP – Helsinki International Artist Programme and Frame Contemporary Art Finland. Both organisations provide the curator fellows with individualised assistance and networking support tailored to their project or research. The HICP curators have access to the international residency community and programme of events at HIAP, while Frame provides contacts with extensive networks of Finnish artists and other art professionals.
A public event (e.g. a lecture, workshop, screening) is organised as part of the residencies. The events are integrated either to the programme at FRAME and HIAP (for instance to the ‘Meet the Curator’ discussion series) or organised at the premises of our local partner organisations. The main purpose of the public event is to share the fellows’ curatorial research and projects with local professional audience, but the format of the event can vary depending on the specific characteristics of each project.
The length of the curatorial residency is one calendar month. Please note that in 2017, the residency periods will be organised as follows:
- June 2017: 2 one-month curator residencies;
- November 2017: 2 one-month curator residencies.
Open to: international curators of contemporary art.
Costs: the programme provides combined workspace and accommodation; working grant (39 euros per residency day)+ travel allowance from and to the curator’s place of residence.
Deadline: 30 October 2016.
