One of the disciplinary roadmaps in DDS research concerns ‘Engineering for Data Science’. This roadmap leverages the strengths and talents in the combined aspects of (computer science-related) engineering for data science, around software, data and hardware, and is making a long-term, high-risk, high-gain investment with the goal of obtaining a unique, world-leading position in engineering for data science. Towards this objective, a team of top-level post-docs will be established to approach four key subjects. All subjects aim to tackle challenges relevant to industry and the future of computing, but emphasise the unique opportunities of academia, and in particular the strengths of post-doctoral researchers. The post-docs will get an opportunity to move the needle on real problems by doing ground-breaking research on topics relevant to industry, such as next generation programming languages, software engineering for big data, cloud-scale runtimes, or data science for security.
The TU Delft and Delft Data Science are looking for talented and enthusiastic post-docs in the area of Data Science Engineering, who can work on one or more of the following subjects: Probabilistic Programming, Software Engineering in the DevOps/Cloud Era, Inconsistency Robustness and Cloud Scale Operating Systems, and Data Science for Security.
Requirements
We are looking for enthusiastic and creative computer scientists motivated to push limits in the field of data science engineering. Applicants must have a PhD degree in the broad field of computer science. Successful candidates have excellent programming skills and a solid background in probabilities, statistics, machine learning, distributed systems, cloud computing and/or security.
Excellent English and communication skills are a prerequisite. The candidate should possess a pro-active, independent, problem-solving, and result-oriented work attitude. He/she is expected to work actively on the outreach of the outcomes.
