In order to ensure the daily issues faced by rural poor people and their communities are acknowledged, it is important that their stories are heard and their voices are amplified. The Thomson Reuters Foundation, with funding from the United Nation’s International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD), will select journalists to attend the IFAD’s conference on Jan. 23 to 26, 2017. IFAD works with those most affected by poverty, food security, gender inequality, environment and climate change.
Participants will build expertise and increase knowledge of issues faced by rural communities. Journalists will have access to high profile delegates, leading experts in the issues, including IFAD and UN technical experts, as well as small holder farmers.
Eligibility
- Be working as journalists or regular contributors to print, broadcast or online media organizations;
- Have at least two years of experience and a good level in spoken and written English;
- Candidates should include professional evidence of their interest in rural peoples’ issues and development.
