I SEA YOU Youth Mobility Project
Topics: Migrants' issues, Integration of refugees, intercultural education
General objective: help increase the sensitivity of the host communities on the theme of migration and migrants' social inclusion.
Will be made by young "leaders of change" from Spain, Greece, Croatia and Italy to create a "bridge" between two realities that are seemingly distant: young people of the migration destination countries and young migrants, most of the time lived with hostility and prejudice.
The creation of the "bridge" will be possible through the theater. Theater, in fact, is a powerful means of communication and overcomes barriers, including language skills, and makes possible to learn about each other without mediation. Theater is for all and does not require pre-knowledge or skills. Theater allows to process and reprocess with others. The 26 young people participating in the exchange will be involved in the production of a play; in particular they will use the “Theater of the Oppressed” methodology. Through acting, the reworking of trauma and the realization of a process of integration, is experienced the empathy with people in difficulty putting themselves in their shoes, in a continuous dialogue between actor and spectator.
The project, which will last seven months, foresees a 9-day exchange host in the city of Vicenza (Italy) in 6-14 May 2017. Participants are 26 young Croatians, Spanish, Greeks and Italians aged between 18 and 30.
