The Doctoral Program in Economics at the University of Zurich was launched in its current format in 2009. It offers a set of courses taught (in English) by leading academics at the University of Zurich and superlative research opportunities. The Zurich Graduate School of Economics (ZurichGSE) receives about 400 applications and admits between 12 and 16 students each year. Funding is generally provided for five years and can be extended to a sixth year for the most promising Ph.D. students. Departmental scholarships are offered for the first year of the Ph.D. program, and recipients are expected to work as teaching assistants from the second year onwards. Research assistant positions are also available. In addition, the ZurichGSE offers three UBS Center Scholarships. All scholarships are awarded competitively on the basis of academic merit.
