Electrical Supervisor at Thenamaris (Athens)

Position Description
The Electrical Supervisor leads a team of engineers that specialize in electrical, electronics, communications and radio navigation disciplines and supervises them in their day to day operational tasks as well as in specific projects. The role is accountable for designing, developing and ensuring a streamlined execution of short, medium and long term projects, aiming to sustain and further improve the operational lifetime of electrical and electronics systems on board the vessels. In parallel, the Electrical Supervisor contributes to the revision of the maintenance strategy and supports the company’s New Building projects, particularly during the specifications phase. Overall, this role is responsible to facilitate the adoption and maximum use of leading edge technology and practices in the areas of electrical/electronics.

Education, Experience & Skills
- Strong academic background; namely a Master in Electrical or Electronic Engineering, with a solid knowledge in Telecommunications or IT Computer Systems & Networks. An MBA will be considered a strong asset;
- Previous working experience of 5-10 years in a similar role in a ships management company or a role in Telecoms or Aviation that indicates knowledge of the below systems;
Is knowledgeable of modern RDBMS database systems, data aggregation/application integration services (e.g. BizTalk), has working knowledge of TCP/IP client-server architectures and industrial-grade data acquisition & communication protocols (e.g. CAN-bus, ModBus);
Is knowledgeable (or can quickly come up to speed with) of diverse electrical, electronics, IT/computing and radio-navigation systems on-board vessels. Such systems include (but are not limited to) main engine control systems, alarm monitoring and support sub-systems,
- PLC controllers of on-board machinery, radar-based liquid surface detection sensors, special purpose computing workstations and associated software, telecom and navigation equipment as well as telemetry and energy management systems;
- Excellent use of the English language at an oral and written level;
- Strong business acumen, excellent project management skills and effectiveness at communicating with people both on shore and at sea (vessels);
- Flexibility for occasional traveling is required (approximately 2 months per year).
