The Cyprus Institute (CyI) is a non-profit research and educational institution with a strong scientific and technological orientation, emphasizing international collaborations and cross-disciplinary research and post graduate education. CyI, through its established research centers, addresses challenging issues that are important at both the regional and international levels. Many of its research activities are being carried out in partnership with leading institutions in the respective thematic areas.
The Cyprus Institute invites applications for an Intern to work in the broader field of Aerosol-based Nanotechnology. The role of the Intern will be to support the operation of the Instrumentation for Nanoparticle Synthesis/Characterization Laboratory (INL) for the synthesis and characterization of aerosol nanoparticles. The position will be on a full-time basis for a fixed term of one year, renewable depending on performance and availability of funds. The position will also have the possibility to be converted to a PhD project depending on the interest of the candidate.
This position is opened in the framework of the NANO2LAB project (INFRASTRUCTURES/1216/0070) aiming to use novel aerosol-based tools for synthesizing and characterizing nanoparticles and nanomaterials. The successful candidate will have the chance to work in a highly multidisciplinary research group in order to develop novel nanomaterials for catalysis and gas sensing.
Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Assist in the synthesis and characterization of aerosol nanoparticles
2. Assist in the development and characterization of nanomaterials for gas sensors
3. Assist in the development and characterization of nanomaterials for catalysts
