Three (3) Postdoctoral Positions in the Ion Channel Structure & Mechanism, A*Midex (Aix-Marseille Initiative of Excellence), France (2015-2016)

Exciting research opportunities in the ion channel structure and mechanism area are available for highly motivated researchers towards 3 postdoctoral positions. The research focuses on analyzing ion channel function with electrophysiology, flux assays, calorimetry as well as ion channel structure with X-ray crystallography, NMR, electron microscopy, and atomic force microscopy. The goal of the work in the lab is to develop a mechanistic understanding of permeation, selectivity, and ligand gating in ion channels. More specifically, the projects involve investigation of the mechanism for ligand binding and activation in prokaryotic and eukaryotic cyclic nucleotide-gated and other ligand-gated channels. The lab is an INSERM lab (Bio-AFM) located at the Luminy campus of the Aix-Marseille Universite, in Marseille, France.
Qualifications and experience:

Qualified candidates should have ideally a quantitative background in biophysics or protein biochemistry. Knowledge of X-ray crystallography, ion channel electrophysiology, protein biochemistry, or calorimetry is desirable but not mandatory. Excellent verbal and written English communication skills, and ability to work in close collaboration with other researchers are required.
