Cyprus Red Cross Society (CRCS)

The Cyprus Red Cross Society (CRCS) was officially established by the Cyprus Red Cross Law of 1967 (N.39/1967), which came into force on 1 November 1969. Its constitution is based on the Geneva Conventions of 1949 and their three Additional Protocols of 1977 and 2005, to which the Republic of Cyprus is a party. The CRCS is guided in its work by the principles of international humanitarian law and the Fundamental Principles of the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement.

The CRCS is committed to prevent and alleviate suffering through effective assistance and protection. The Organisation offers humanitarian assistance services, first aid seminars, counselling for integration (for migrants), advocacy for migrants rights – especially for those in the Centres for migrants operated by the migrants, restoration of family links services, psychosocial support and services towards the enclaved.

Particular attention is given to people with special needs, pregnant women, children and babies, the elderly and people who are deprived of their freedom of movement (in detention facilities or closed-type Centres for migrants, as well as the enclaved).
