30 May - 6 June 2023 | Szeged, Hungary
Outdoor education is not a new thing, however most of the teachers, mentors and youth workers do not prefer to apply it because they are afraid that young people lose focus and cannot concentrate in an unusual learning environment. According to new researches it is the opposite what is happening during outdoor education, i.e. this type of education improves youth’s focus and their attention can be held up better. Outdoor education has numerous positive effects, such as better behaviour, longer attention, positive impact on health and well-being, etc. Many people think in the nature, however, outdoor activities might be implemented in a city as well.
There is a need for youth workers who implement not only outdoor activities, but use also non-formal methods during these, allowing young people to experience the learning by doing method. Young people need youth workers who are capable to transfer the formal teaching methods into non-formal, who have a widen knowledge about outdoor activity plans and non-formal methodologies.
For this purpose, the aim of the project is to develop youth workers’ knowledge on outdoor education and its advantages by raising awareness on the key elements of outdoor education; and facilitating a start of an international discussion about outdoor education and on how does it appear in the different countries.
